Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - David Cacciola made 36 saves as the Texas Brahmas shutout the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 4-0 on Saturday night at the NyTex Sports Centre. The Mudbugs have now lost five straight contests against Texas, but are 10-3-0 against the rest of the CHL so far this season.

The Brahmas powerplay did most of the damage in this one, scoring three times in the first two periods while Cacciola did the rest. Texas was 3 for 11 with the man advantage, while the Bugs finished 0 for 7.

Texas jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead with a pair of powerplay goals. First it was Grant Jacobsen, who redirected a shot by former Mudbug Craig Minard to beat a screened Ryan Mior for the first goal at 8:17. Less than two minutes later, Jordan Cameron scored on a 5-on-3 powerplay goal to give Texas the two-goal cushion.

The Mudbugs were shorthanded for much of the second period as well, putting Texas on the powerplay five times and surrendering one goal. After Mior had made a pair of nice saves, Scott Sheppard fed a pass across the slot to Topher Scott for his second goal of the season to make it 3-0 for Texas after two periods.

The Mudbugs couldn't capitalize on two powerplay chances early in the third period, and then the Brahmas expanded the lead with Marc Belanger's breakaway goal that made it 4-0. Bossier-Shreveport peppered Cacciola with 22 third period shots, but couldn't solve the former Mudbug and was shutout for the second time this season.

Cacciola improved his record to 4-4-0 this year. Mior, who was making his first start in nearly a month, stopped 21 shots while falling to 4-3-0. The Mudbugs ended the game with a 36-25 edge in the shots on goal.
