Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Montgomery Biscuits left-hander Genesis Cabrera pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings, and Biscuits center fielder Thomas Milone's seventh-inning RBI single gave his team a 1-0 win over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in front of 6,396 on Mick Jagger's 75th birthday and Budweiser Thirsty Thursday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Jacksonville right-hander Merandy Gonzalez (1-6) kept the Biscuits (19-15 second half, 56-48 overall) scoreless through the first six innings. He worked around baserunners in each of the first four innings. In the sixth inning, he walked left fielder Nick Solak, who went to second base on first baseman Nate Lowe's single. Second baseman Mike Brosseau singled to right field, and Solak tried to score, but right fielder John Norwood threw to catcher Rodrigo Vigil to retire him.

In a scoreless tie in the top of the seventh inning, Biscuits third baseman Peter Maris hit a one-out single to right field and stole second base. Catcher David Rodriguez advanced him with a groundout, and Milone hit an RBI single to right field. It was the only run against Gonzalez, who allowed seven hits and three walks with two strikeouts in seven innings, matching his longest start of the season. Left-hander Miguel Del Pozo worked around a walk and hit in a scoreless eighth inning. Left-hander Dylan Lee pitched a scoreless ninth inning - his 15th straight scoreless inning for Jacksonville (11-23, 39-63).

Cabrera (7-6) set down the first seven batters against him and allowed lone singles in the third, fourth and eighth innings, with only one baserunner reaching second base. He had retired 11 straight Jacksonville batters before second baseman Justin Twine's eighth-inning, one-out infield single, extending a hitting streak spanning his first seven Double-A games. Cabrera was then lifted, having struck out nine batters with no walks. Right-hander Yoel Espinal got the next two-outs and worked around a ninth-inning leadoff single to record his fourth save, earn Cabrera his first win in July, and clinch the series for Montgomery with a third straight victory after Jacksonville won Monday's series opener.
