Montgomery Biscuits News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.- Matt Buschmann (1-1) tossed six innings of two-hit, one-run baseball to help the Biscuits (14-17) survive a 1-17 performance with runners in scoring position, taking the opener from the Chattanooga Lookouts (13-18) 4-1 Sunday at AT&T Field.
The win snaps a seven-game losing streak at AT&T Field dating back to April of 2010.
Buschmann held the Lookouts scoreless and faced just one more than the minimum through five before a two-out walk and a double in the sixth put Chattanooga on the board. He left after the sixth having allowing just two hits and two walks in his first win as a Biscuit.
Kyeong Kang hit hits league-leading eighth homer of the season to provide ninth inning insurance for Adam Liberatore (3) to cruise to the save.
The Biscuits plated two unearned runs against Lookouts starter Matt Magill (2-2) in the third before taking a 3-0 lead on a David Wendt RBI-single in the sixth.
They stranded 11 on-base, and have now stranded 35 over the last three games while struggling to a 4-35 performance with runners in scoring position over the last two.
Wendt and Brad Coon, batting out of the bottom two spots in the order, both delivered two hits for the Biscuits.
RHP Jake Thompson will toss for the Biscuits in game two against RHP Chris Withrow Monday at 6:15 CT.
