Mobile BayBears News Release

A combination of heavy offense and shutout pitching lead the Mobile BayBears to an 11-0 win over the Jacksonville Suns Sunday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville . Right-hander Trevor Bauer shut down the Suns bats, allowing just one run and striking out five over eight innings. Backing Bauer's performance, the BayBear lineup tallied 11 runs on 12 hits. Due to persistent rain in the area the game was called complete in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Bauer earned his league-best, sixth win of the season. Despite giving up five walks Bauer contained the Suns to one run and got help from his defense inducing nine ground-outs including two double plays. Suns' starting lefty Jose Alvarez was credited with the loss. Alvarez held the BayBears scoreless for just three innings before giving up three runs in the fourth and finished the day giving up five earned runs over 5.2 innings.

The BayBears put up three runs in the fourth inning, adding two more runs in the sixth then opened up the score after posting six runs in the seventh. Marc Krauss knocked his fifth home run of the season with a three-run shot in the third inning that gave the BayBears a 3-0 lead. Mobile scored six runs in the seventh, highlighted by a Yazy Arbelo double the allowed Krauss and Ed Easley to score. Matt Davidson added to the offense output going two-for-three at the plate, walking twice, driving in a run and scoring three runs.

The BayBears and Suns continue their series Monday morning at 10:05 AM. LHP Tyler Skaggs (0-2) will take the bump for Mobile. Jacksonville will send out RHP Bryan Evans (0-2). Mobile will return home Friday, May 11, to play host to the Chattanooga Lookouts with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM, with a "Concert in the Sky" fireworks show following the game.
