TRAVERSE CITY, MI- The Traverse City Beach Bums rallied back from a 3-0 deficit to score 10 unanswered runs to beat the Washington Wild Things in front of 2,933 fans at Wuerfel Park by a score of 10-3.
Beach Bums right fielder Matt Brown had a big night at the plate with two hits and three runs scored. The highlight of the evening came in the seventh inning when Brown advanced all the way to second base on a strikeout and passed ball by Wild Things catcher Blake Ochoa. Brown then scored all the way from second base on a wild pitch from Washington reliever Davis Bilardello.
Trailing 3-1 in the fifth, the Beach Bums rallied to take the lead by scoring three runs highlighted by an RBI-double by Chase Burch to give Traverse City a 4-3 edge. In the eighth, the Beach Bums added five more runs thanks to a two-run single from Brown, an RBI-double from second baseman Tom Zebroski and two-run double from shortstop Jose Vargas to extend the Beach Bums lead to 10-3.
The win gives the Beach Bums sole possession of second-place in the Frontier League East with a 28-24 record. The Beach Bums are now a season best four games over .500.
