Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
Crestwood, IL - Windy City relievers fired 4 innings of 1-run relief against Chillicothe Saturday night. But, the Paints pen worked 5 innings of scoreless ball to push Chillicothe to its 10th straight victory. The final total was 4-2.
The Paints snatched the lead early as Jose Rodriguez plated Steve Martin for the center fielder's 6th run of the series. John Ramistella piggybacked that with a 2-run blast over the left field wall against ThunderBolt starter Gregg Pleeter. It was his first appearance with Windy City after moving over from North Shore of the Can-Am League.
The Bolts knived into the lead with a pair in the 3rd inning on back-to-back ground balls from Justin Schuda and Jason Crosland against Paints starter Luke Palmer.
The game was halted twice due to an electrical issue at the stadium. After 33 minutes total, the full lighting ability of the stadium was restored.
In the 7th, Juan Downing created the only tally against a relief hurler in the ball game. Jose Rodriguez, John Ramistella and the former Evansville Otter Downing racked up consecutive hits in the 7th inning.
Kellbach found his way through 3 innings and surrendered just 1 earned run in relief of Pleeter. Lenny Bays followed that performance with two untouched innings. But, the Paints staff was even better. Ben Lovell, Nick Cavanagh, Jeremy Durkee, Marshall Plouffe and Ryan Rafferty provided a conglomeration of 4 scoreless frames. Plouffe K'd 4 hitters.
The Bolt left the bases loaded a pair of times and stranded 11 total. Chillicothe marooned 10 on the base path.
The Bolts aim to avoid the sweep tomorrow at Hawkinson Ford Field. Lefty Sam Jansen attempts his 2nd Windy City start of the year. He was saddled with the loss in game one of the homestand after 3 innings and a third of work. You can catch a discussion with manager Brent Bowers on the pregame show starting at 4:45 on WJOB AM 1230 or at www.wjobcalpress.com.
The first Jansen delivery departs at 5:05. The Windy City ThunderBolts are a member of the 12-team Frontier League.
