Bullpen Falters as Savannah Routs Rome

Rome, GA - The Savannah Sand Gnats defeated the Rome Braves 12-2 Saturday night before 3,143 fans at State Mutual Stadium. It was the second consecutive loss against Savannah.

Savannah scored a run in the first on an RBI double by Cory Vaughn. They added another run in the third on an RBI single by Robbie Shields. Rome made it a 2-1 game in the third on a Hilton Richardson (1) homerun. Savannah got the run back in the fifth thanks to an RBI double by Darrell Ceciliani making the score 3-1.

The Sand Gnats broke the game open in the seventh to take a 7-1 lead highlighted by two RBI singles from Ceciliani and a solo blast by Aderlin Rodriguez (7). In the bottom of the inning, Jakob Dalfonso (1) cracked a solo homerun to make the score 7-2 but that's as close as the Braves would get.

Savannah added three additional runs in the eighth and two runs in the ninth to take a 12-2 victory. The Sand Gnats had sixteen hits on the night with Darrell Ceciliani going five for five.

Gonzalez German (3-1) gets the win going seven innings while Rome's Carlos Perez (2-4) absorbs the loss.
