Lexington Legends News Release

The Lexington Legends snapped a six game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Asheville Tourists at Whitaker Bank Ballpark Saturday night. The Legends rallied from a 3-0 deficit and overcame four solo homers by the Tourists. Asheville's Helder Velazquez and Chandler Laurent led off the second inning with back-to-back home runs off Carlos Quevedo to give the Tourists a 2-0 lead.. Quevado then struck out five straight batters before surrendering a two-out solo shot by Corey Dickerson in the third. Quevedo struck out 13 batters and didn't walk anyone in six innings of work. The Legends rallied in their half of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, Jiovanni Meir hit a ground ball to third baseman Brett Tanos. Tanos' throw to first was high, and the error allowed Tyler Burnett and Emilio King to score. Adam Bailey's infield out brought home the tying run. The Tourists regained their lead in the fifth when Bryce Massanari homered over the left field bleachers, but Lexington's Jiovanni Mier answered with a solo shot in the bottom of the fifth, and the game was even again at 4-4. The Legends scored the deciding run in the eighth. Adam Bailey singled to begin the frame. After a strikeout, Mike Kvasnicka extended his consecutive on-base streak to 21 games with a ground rule double to left field, sending Bailey to third. Enrique Hernandez grounded to shortstop Christhian Adames, who threw home to get Bailey for the second out. Daniel Adamson's slow roller down the third base line was fielded by Brett Tanos, but he had no play as Kvasnicka scored the tie-breaking run. Brian Streilein (3-0) pitched hitless baseball over the last two and one-third innings to get the win. He struck out four batters. Legends pitchers have recorded 33 strikeouts in the first two games of the series. The two teams will meet again Sunday afternoon. Game time is 2:05 p.m.
