Charleston RiverDogs News Release

CHARLESTON, SC - With Memorial Day and the summer season on the immediate horizon, the Charleston RiverDogs are headed back to the friendly confines of Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park for a seven-game homestand. The Class A affiliate of the 27-time World Champion New York Yankees welcome the Savannah Sand Gnats and the Augusta GreenJackets to town, giving fans of Charleston's favorite professional sports team a chance to savor the end of spring on the banks of the scenic Ashley River.

Recently named the Military Support Business of the Year by the local Chamber of Commerce, the RiverDogs are especially excited about the first Military Appreciation Night of the year, courtesy of Force Protection Industries, Inc., on May 19. All military personnel and their families will receive free tickets to the game as a show of gratitude for the service they provide. It's also another Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, as everyone gets the chance to kick back, relax and "Be Your Own Fan" while enjoying $1 beers and food specials in the Ashley View Pub.

An event-filled weekend continues on Force Protection Industries Red Shirt Friday, May 20. Lowcountry boy scouts will earn a patch for coming to the game and will be treated to a post-game campout on the Riley Park diamond as part of the annual Boy Scout Night. Thirty-year professional baseball veteran Mike Toomey will be enshrined into the Professional Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame in a pregame ceremony. It's also Bike Night and Fat Tire Friday, with Piggly Wiggly Postgame Fireworks, as always, providing the perfect capper to an evening of fun.

The 8th annual and always-popular Run, Forrest, Run 5K gets Saturday, May 21 off and running. After the race, which concludes with a home plate greeting from RiverDogs players, the first 1,000 fans in the park will receive a nite light giveaway. Once the game is underway, patrons will be entertained by the Inflatamaniacs, a group of cool kids whose dance moves will wow parents and kids alike.

Charleston concludes the May home docket bright and early on Monday, May 23 with Education Day. A rare 11:05 am first pitch caters to area school-children who will get a chance to watch the Major League stars of tomorrow, while being awed by magic courtesy of multi-talented public address announcer Ken Carrington.

It's also another CCPRC Family Sunday, meaning one can save money by taking advantage of our regular FREE PARKING and KIDS EAT FREE Sundays, presented by Pepsi. As always, the Yankees of tomorrow will stick around on the field after the game to dole out autographs to their admirers.

Monday, May 23 - 11:05 am vs. Augusta GreenJackets: Education Day
