Augusta GreenJackets News Release
Hickory, NC - For the second time in as many starts and for the third time this season, Seth Rosin threw seven innings for the Augusta GreenJackets. Rosin's masterpiece carried the GreenJackets to a 5-0 win over the Hickory Crawdads on Saturday night - Augusta's first shutout win of the season.
Rosin (1-2) allowed just three hits, while walking one and hitting a batter in his seven shutout innings. He struck out three in his first win of the season.
The GreenJackets provided support for Rosin early, getting a pair of two-out runs in the third inning. In his first game of the season, Ehire Adrianza singled with two outs in the third. Adam Duvall followed with a run-scoring double into left field to score Adrianza and give the GreenJackets a 1-0 advantage. Drew Biery followed with a RBI single to right to double the Augusta lead to 2-0.
In the fifth, Augusta sent eight men to the plate and added three more runs to the GreenJackets lead. With two runners on, Adrianza singled home a run to bring the lead to three. A walk loaded the bases for Ryan Scoma later in the inning and Scoma delivered in the clutch for the GreenJackets. His two-run single made it a 5-0 lead for Augusta.
Gaspar Santiago followed Rosin with two scoreless innings for the GreenJackets to seal the game, striking out four. He got back-to-back strikeouts on called third strikes to end the game.
Hickory starter Carlos Melo (2-4) took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits and four walks in four innings. Melo struck out five for the Crawdads.
The GreenJackets will send Austin Fleet (4-2, 4.25) to the mound on Sunday evening in their fourth attempt to pick up their third straight win this season. Hickory sends Roman Mendez (4-1, 2.23) to the mound as the Crawdads will need to win the last two games of the series to salvage a split. First pitch will come at 5:05 with the pregame action beginning at 4:50, airing on WRDW AM 1630 and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.
The GreenJackets return home on Tuesday for the opener of a three-game series with the Greenville Drive at 7:05 p.m. as the GreenJackets close in on their one-millionth fan under Ripken Baseball ownership. That lucky fan will win a trip for four to Disneyworld, courtesy of Augusta Vascular Center
