New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals ended a disappointing four game series in Lynn, MA with a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the North Shore Spirit, as their bullpen couldn't hold down a late inning lead again.

It took 35 minutes to play the first three innings, but in the top of the fourth, the Jackals scraped across two runs against Spirit starter Ryan Bicondoa. RBI singles by both Guillermo Reyes and Curt Miaso gave the Jackals a lead, but it would be slashed in half in the bottom half of the inning. A Josue Lopez sac fly accounted for North Shore's first run.

The scoring stalled till the eighth when the Spirit capitalized on the shaky Jackal bullpen. Luis Lopez singled off of Jon Hunton to tie the game. Later in the inning, Vic Davilla broke from second in search of a stolen base at third, when the Jackal third baseman Wilton Veras was caught off guard by the throw, allowing it to sail into left field, and allowing Davilla to score. After eight, the Spirit led 3-2, and that would be the final.

Derek Drage came in for the ninth, and pitched a one-hit inning for his 13th save of the year.

Jamie Baker took the win for North Shore, while the loss went to Hunton.
