Brockton Rox News Release

The Brockton Rox 2007 season has been a year of highs and lows. While the Rox will likely finish out of playoff contention for the first time in three years, there have been many positives to come out of the 2007 season.

There were numerous accomplishments by Rox players this season. RHP John Kelly broke the team record for most strikeouts in a single season with 114. On July 27th against the New Haven County Cutters, LHP Rolando Viera broke the team record for most strikeouts in a single game with 14 and tied the league record. He threatened to break his own record on August 10th against the Quebec Capitales when he fanned 11 batters in 8.1 innings. LHP Bryan Morse was acquired by the Rox in mid-July via a trade with the North Shore Spirit and in his first appearance against his former team on August 9th, he had a no-hitter going into the ninth inning. Eventually he gave up a single in the final frame, but that would be the lone hit as he shutout his former team as the Rox won 1-0. Veteran 1B Francisco Lebron hit a career high number of HR in his ninth season of professional baseball and tied the Rox single season HR record at 14 on August 16 th at Campanelli Stadium against the Sussex Skyhawks.

While the Brockton Rox may not have had the illustrious win-loss record they had during their championship run last year, the one constant throughout this season has been the unwavering support of you, the fans. From everyone at the Brockton Rox, we thank you for your support during the 2007 season and look forward to seeing you again back at the ballpark in 2008!
