ROX OUTFIELER TONY GONZALEZ NAMED ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

Brockton, MA (August 31, 2007) - The Can-Am League has announced that Brockton Rox OF Tony Gonzalez has been named Rookie of the Year. After joining the team in late June, Gonzalez has hit .297 with 7 HR and 35 RBI during the Can-Am League Regular Season The native of La Habra, CA played for four schools in four years, most recently with Crichton College in 2007, where he hit .393 with 11 HR and 41 RBI.

Gonzalez is the fourth member of the Rox to be named Rookie of the Year in the past five seasons. In 2003, 1B Craig Lewis was honored as the Rox won the Northeast League Championship. In 2004, C/DH Kris Zacuto brought home the award, and in 2005 OF Brad Rosenblat took the title of Rookie of the Year. Post-season awards are decided on by a vote of Can-Am League managers and media members.

The Brockton Rox finish the 2007 season with four road games, starting Friday in West Haven, CT with the New Haven County Cutters. On Saturday, September 1st, the Rox open their final series, a three-game set with the Atlantic City Surf.
