Wausau Woodchucks News Release

WAUSAU - The Woodchucks rally would be cut short after play was resumed from opening night, May 29, as the Bullfrogs would earn the victory 4-3 thanks to a key three run home run from Bullfrogs pitcher Robert Youngdahl.

The first game of tonight's doubleheader would resume play in the top half of the fourth inning with the Woodchucks leading 1-0 thanks to Tyler Stieb scoring on a run-down before the game was postponed due to rain on May 29.

Robert Youngdahl would help his own cause as he would hit a fastball with two outs over the left field wall in the top half of the fifth inning. Youngdahl would bring home JD Crowe and Jose Godinez to give the Bullfrogs a 3-1 lead.

Green Bay would build on their lead after Jimmy Coady reached base after hitting a double down the right field line. This time Crowe would drive Coady in after hitting a blooper that found some grass in left field giving the Bullfrogs a 4-1 advantage which would be the winning run in the game. The Woodchucks would shorten the gap in the bottom of the seventh inning after Tyler Stieb would score after a two-out triple from Garrett Rucker. Rucker would then come in to score as Matt Tellor hit a double down the left field line shortening the Bullfrogs' lead 4-3. However, this would be the closest that they would get to the Bullfrogs. Henry Weiler would take the loss for the Woodchucks giving up all four runs however only one of those runs being earned. Along with the home run, Robert Youngdahl would receive the victory for the Bullfrogs. Johnathon Tripp would come on and record his third save of the season.

The Woodchucks will be back in action tomorrow as the Lakeshore Chinooks make their way to Athletic Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35.
