Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The Bullfrogs won a second straight game on Thursday and completed a two game sweep of the Rafters with an 11-8 victory over Wisconsin Rapids.
The Bullfrogs started the scoring early in the first inning, bringing home two unearned runs and running Wisconsin Rapids starter Greg Maisto from the game after just one inning.
The Bullfrogs jumped on the Rafters bullpen early, as well. Green Bay was able to bring another run home off of an RBI single from Bryant Burleson in the second inning off of reliever Nick Maiers.
In the fourth inning, the Bullfrogs were able to load the bases and bring home four more runs.
In the fifth, Nick Torres pounded a double off the wall to bring home one of three runs. It was his second of two RBI on the day. Torres also extended his hitting-streak to nine games.
The Rafters tightened the game up in the fifth and sixth innings, bringing home five unanswered runs to cut the lead to 10-6 heading to the seventh. Ryan Drobny gave Green Bay some extra insurance, however, bashing his first home run of the season in the seventh to extend the Bullfrog lead to 11-6.
Wisconsin Rapids rallied in the ninth inning to bring home two more runs, but the Bullfrogs were able to hold the Rafters off and claim an 11-8 victory, their second straight.
Derek Callahan (1-0) earned the victory. Greg Maisto (0-3) took the loss.
The Bullfrogs return home Friday against Battle Creek with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Come out to Joannes Stadium for Salute to the Dairy Queen Dilly Bar and Frogtacular Fireworks Friday with KZ 104.3
