Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. -- The Bullfrogs' pitching staff shut down the Woodchucks on Monday night, and Green Bay held on for a 3-1 victory in its home finale.
The game was a pitcher's duel until the bottom of the third inning when the Bullfrog bats heated up. Robert Youngdahl reached via a walk from Morgan. Bryant Burleson followed with a double to left-center easily scoring Youngdahl from first base. Tripp Martin came up to bat following a fly out to right field that advanced Burleson to third. Martin grounded to the 'Chucks shortstop Tell Taylor, but a short throw hopped past Rob Bennie at first base. Burleson capitalized on the Wisconsin error, coming home to score to give Green Bay a 2-0 lead after the third inning.
The scoring remained stagnant through the middle innings. The Bullfrogs were carried the rest of the way by an excellent starting pitching effort from LHP Garrett Harrison. After he threw six scorless innings, the Woodchucks finally got to the Bullfrog bullpen, and crossed home plate for the first time in the top of the seventh on a double steal that scored Kyle Haen from third, narrowing the 'Frogs lead to 2-1.
Green Bay added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth with another RBI double from Bryant Burleson, this time scoring Trevin Sonnier. The Bullfrogs took a 3-1 lead into the ninth.
After getting the final two outs of the eighth inning, RHP was able to strand one runner in the ninth inning to secure a 3-1 Bullfrog win over Wisconsin and a split of the two game series.
The win went to Harrison (3-3) who went six innings allowing six hits and two walks, while striking six batters. The loss went Curtis Morgan (0-1), and save to Rohrman (2).
Green Bay finishes their season on the road with two game series against each Mankato, Willmar, and Eau Claire. Follow along on Bullfrogs Radio and 107.1 WOCO for the rest of the season as Green Bay finishes its 70 game season.
The Bullfrogs are a part of the 16-team Northwoods League. The Northwood's League has more fans and more teams than any other summer collegiate baseball league.
