Waterloo Bucks News Release

Waterloo, IA - The Waterloo Bucks, members of the Northwoods League, have been ranked the top summer-collegiate baseball team in the nation by Perfect Game. Waterloo, who has been ranked second for most of the season, jumped the Cape Cod League's Falmouth Commodores in this week's rankings to take the number one spot.

The Bucks (46-16) set a franchise record for wins last night with their 12-1 victory over the Alexandria Blue Anchors. The 46-win mark is team record that has stood since 1998. The 2013 Waterloo squad has reached that mark in one fewer game then the '98 team.

Perfect Game releases their Summer Collegiate Team Rankings every Monday during the summer. The rankings are compiled by Allan Simpson and are determined on the following criteria: won-loss record, league dominance, depth, and quality of professional-level talent and the overall strength of the league. Teams must have at least a .500 record to earn consideration.

The Bucks are currently on a two-game road trip, facing the Alexandria Blue Anchors tonight at 7:05 pm. Waterloo returns home on Tuesday to face the Lakeshore Chinooks, as they will begin a five-day homestand. With the July 30 Bucks/Chinooks game being suspended due to rain in the 10th inning with a 1-1 tie, the game will be resumed in Waterloo on Tuesday. Game time for the resumption of the July 30 game will be 6:05 pm. At the completion of that contest, there will be a 30-minute break before the start of the regularly scheduled nine-inning game. One ticket will allow fans to enjoy both contests. Group outings, single-game, and Playoff tickets are currently on sale. For more information, call the Bucks' Ticket Line at (319) 232-5633. All 70 Bucks games can be heard on 1330 ESPN (KWLO-AM).
