
Bullfrogs Rally Late, Snap Five-Game Losing Streak

After a 95 minute rain delay, the Bullfrogs rallied late on Monday night, defeating the Eau Claire Express in a back and forth game to snap a five game losing streak.
The Express took a 2-0 lead in the first inning with two unearned runs that came home on errors by Green Bay second-baseman Dan Douglas. Tim Zier and Casey Gillaspie scored for Eau Claire.
The Bullfrogs rallied back with one of their own in the bottom of the first when Chris Hoo scored on a sacrifice fly from David Armendariz.
Green Bay brought home four in the third inning to take a 5-2 lead. Dan Douglas, David Armendariz, Ransom LaLonde, and Nick Stein scored in the inning. Only two of the runs were charged to starter Brian Crabb.
The Express rallied for four of their own in the fifth inning. None of the runs were earned for Green Bay starter Bryce Bellin. After Douglas' third error of the game, Mitch Ghelfi scored on a sacrifice fly from Will Fadness. With two outs, Casey Gillaspie belted his tenth home run of the season, a three run shot to right to give Eau Claire a 6-5 lead.
The Express added one more in the seventh on an RBI walk with the bases loaded from Ty Forney.
Green Bay rallied for one in the bottom of the seventh inning. Mac Acker led off with a double to right field and then score on an RBI single from Ransom LaLonde, his second RBI of the day to make the score 7-6 in favor of Eau Claire.
The Bullfrogs rallied for two in the eighth inning to take the lead for good. Ryan Matranga scored on an RBI groundout from David Armendariz, and then Nick Stein brought home Collin Shaw with an RBI walk to give Green Bay an 8-7 lead.
This was only the Bullfrogs' second victory of the year when trailing after seven innings. They are now 2-22 on the season in that situation.
Alex Abrams pitched the eighth and the ninth for the Bullfrogs and earned the win. Bryce Bellin gave up six, all unearned in six innings. He struck out eight and walked none. Ben Graff gave up one unearned run in the seventh inning.
All Express runs were unearned to Green Bay pitching.
Green Bay is now 7-15 in the second half, 29-28 overall.
The Bullfrogs stay at home tomorrow to begin a two game series with the first-place Wisconsin Woodchucks. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 from Joannes Stadium. Dueling Pianos will be at the park, and it is Miller Lite Buck Nite presented by 107.5 The Fan. Tickets are still available.
