ALEXANDRIA-The St Cloud Rox defeated the Alexandria Beetles 11-4 Monday night in front of 742 fans at Knute Nelson Park. The Rox are now two and a half games behind first-place Willmar at 12-12.

Jamie Simpson (Eastern Michigan) was 3-5 with two runs scored, two doubles and three RBI for the Rox. Andy Henkemeyer (Minnesota) and Phil Imholte (St Cloud State) each had three hits for St Cloud as well, while Erik Kozel (Colorado Mesa) had three RBI. The Rox had 15 hits as a team.

Lucas Long (Arizona) went long on the hill for St Cloud, lasting eight innings while allowing four runs on nine hits. The Minneapolis native struck out four Beetles and walked only one.

The Rox scored four runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back. Mark Rhine (Wake Forest) started the scoring with an RBI double, and Erik Kozel (Colorado Mesa) cleared the bases for a three-run triple to make the score 4-0.

St. Cloud got two runs in the top of the second inning on a groundout and an error, then scored another in the fourth on a wild pitch to make the score 7-0. The Rox got two runs in the top of the fifth inning, one on a Jamie Simpson (Eastern Michigan) RBI double and another on a Chris Paul (California) single to score Simpson.

The Rox led 9-0 before the Beetles finally scored in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single. St. Cloud's final two runs were scored via a Simpson 2-run double in the top of the eighth.
