Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - Last night the Bullfrogs played inspired baseball as they defeated the Battle Creek Bombers 4-3 (7 Innings) in the second game of yesterday's doubleheader. Behind the great pitching performance by Harrisen Egly (Columbia), the Bullfrogs ended their five game losing streak.
In game one, the Bullfrogs lost a slugfest 12-9. The game was originally scheduled for Friday night but rain suspended play. The game resumed Saturday afternoon from the third inning, Bullfrogs were up 3-0. The game swung when Daniel Jipping (Central Michigan) hit a grand slam to take a 9-6 lead against the Bullfrogs. The Bombers would never look back.
Pitchers dominated the second game of the double header. The Bullfrogs were down 3-1 in the top of the fifth when the Bombers loaded the bases, Egly came into pitch. With one out in the inning, Egly got the first batter, Eric Gilgenback (Notre Dame), to fly out to shallow right field. Then momentum swung the way of the Bullfrogs as Egly got a big strikeout of Truman Brown (Columbia State CC). In the bottom of the inning, the Bullfrogs would plate three runs on two hits, two walks, and a couple of wild pitches. Egly closed out the game in the seventh and earned his second win.
Bullfrogs look to ride this momentum into the road trip ahead. Bullfrogs current record sits at 4-8. The road trip features two opponents the Bullfrogs have yet to face, Madison and Eau Claire. The first stop is against the Kalamazoo Growlers. In the first meeting between the two, the Growlers took both games in Green Bay.
First pitch in Kalamazoo, Michigan is set for 1:05 ET (12:05 CT).
