Bulldogs Use Some Olympic Mojo to Beat the Ottawa 67's 3-1
March 2, 2018 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Brantford Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs extended their win streak to five straight games Friday night with a hard fought 3-1 win over the Ottawa 67's at FirstOntario Centre.
The mood was set during pre-game ceremonies as Laura Fortino (Hamilton), Sarah Nurse (Hamilton) and Renata Fast (Burlington), members of the Canadian Olympic Women's Hockey team in PyeongChang, took part in the puck drop, to the delight of the 4,852 fans in attendance.
That seemed to give both teams some energy to start the game, but the 1st period was scoreless despite the Bulldogs 19-8 edge on the shot clock.
Hamilton's offense got in gear in the 2nd period and within a span of just under 12-minutes, it was 3-0 for the Black and Gold thanks to goals from Mackenzie Entwistle (12), Justin Lemcke (8) and a power-play goal from Matthew Strome (35). Ottawa got one back just before the 15:00 mark to cut the lead to 3-1.
Ottawa's offense was held to just eight shots on goal over the final two periods, including just two in the 3rd period, as the Bulldogs shut things down and coasted to the 3-1 win.
3 STARS:
1) Robert Thomas (HAM) 2) Matthew Strome (HAM) 3) Cedrick Andree (OTT)
The Bulldogs are back it Saturday night as they host the Oshawa Generals at FirstOntario Centre at 7 pm.
