Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs scored three power-play goals on the way to their second victory against the Cleveland Barons in as many tries. Goalie Yann Danis earned his sixth win of the season and the Bulldogs improved to 6-3-2-0 in front of the hometown crowd Friday evening.
The Bulldogs struck first at the midway point of the opening period on a power-play goal by Corey Locke. Locke fed defenceman Trevor Daley at the point from down low and then redirected the point shot for his fourth goal of the season. He also drew a five-minute high-sticking penalty on the play.
On the ensuing power play, only 57 seconds later, the Bulldogs would add another goal for a 2-0 first period lead. Dan Jancevski, on a great individual effort, took a pass from Tomas Plekanec and danced around goalie Nolan Schaefer for his first of the season. The goal came at the 10:58 mark of the first period.
Midway through the second period the Barons got caught with too many men on the ice for the second time in the game and the Bulldogs power-play unit took advantage. Forward Marc-Andre Thinel gained the blue-line and dropped the puck to Tomas Plekanec who threaded a pass through the defenceman's legs and onto the stick of Jason Ward. Ward buried the gift from Plekanec with ease for his fourth of the season at the 8:41 mark.
Cleveland got on the board in the third period on a power play of their own. Bulldogs defenceman Andrew Archer got called for tripping early in the period and the Barons went on the attack. Barons blue-liner Christian Ehrhoff let a shot go from the point and Patrick Rissmiller was there to bang in the rebound for his fourth goal of the season. The goal came at 4:47 of the third period.
The goalies then turned away everything that came at them and the game ended in a 3-1 win for the Bulldogs.
Earning the win for the Bulldogs was Yann Danis who stopped 18 of 19 shots and improved to 6-1-0 on the season. Nolan Schaefer stopped 25 of 28 in a losing cause for the Barons.
The Bulldogs' next action will take place on Saturday, November 6th when they will play host to the Cleveland Barons once again at Copps Coliseum. Game time will be 7:00pm and fans can listen to all the action live at www.hamiltonbulldogs.com or AM 820-CHAM.
