Cleveland, OH - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Lake Erie Monsters 5-3 on Friday night. P.K. Subban set a new franchise record for most goals by a Bulldogs defenceman in one season with 17 as the ‘Dogs extended their winning streak to three games.

The Bulldogs opened the game's scoring at 5:42 with a power-play goal. David Desharnais fired a shot on net that was stopped by Lake Erie starting goaltender Tyler Weiman. The rebound bounced onto the stick of Brock Trotter, who whacked the puck into the back of the net. The ‘Dogs took a 2-0 lead at 10:19 with their second power-play marker. Desharnais sent a shot to the net that was stopped by Weiman. P.K. Subban grabbed the loose puck before spinning around and sending a backhand shot towards the net that bounced off the skate of a Monsters defender and into the back of the net. The goal was Subban's 17th this season which sets a new franchise record for most goals by a Bulldogs defenceman in one season surpassing the previous record of 16 which was set by Yannick Weber last season.

Lake Erie made the game 2-1 at 1:45 of the second stanza. Brian Fahey received the puck from Randy Rowe before releasing a shot that sailed over the right shoulder of Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford.

Andrew Conboy regained the Bulldogs' two-goal lead at 5:16 of the middle frame. While carrying the puck into the Monsters' zone, Aaron Palushaj sent a centering pass to Andrew Conboy, who rifled a shot into the top corner of the net. Mike Glumac gave Hamilton a 4-1 lead at 11:20. Glumac collected the puck in the right corner before sending it to the front of the net. The puck proceeded to bounce off the skate of a Lake Erie defender and through the legs of Weiman.

The Monsters scored their second goal of the game at 14:17 of the second period. Fahey received the puck from T.J. Hensick before blasting a shot that was stopped by Sanford. Ryan Stoa scooped up the loose rebound before sliding the puck past Sanford and into the net. Ray Macias made the game 4-3 at 19:31. Macias skated towards the Hamilton net before receiving a pass from Hensick, which he tapped past Sanford and across the goal line.

Hamilton sealed the win with an empty net marker at 19:57 of the final frame as Ryan Russell fired the puck into the empty goal.

The Bulldogs travel to Toronto to battle the Marlies on Saturday, March 20th for a 4:00 p.m. game at Ricoh Coliseum.
