
Bulldogs halt Rampage in 6-1 win

Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the San Antonio Rampage 6-1 on Tuesday night at Copps Coliseum. Ben Maxwell recorded a hat-trick in the win while a returning Max Pacioretty scored a goal and added two assists.
Hamilton scored the opening goal of the game at 7:40 of the first frame. Pacioretty sent a pass to Maxwell, who was stationed in the slot. Maxwell released a shot that fluttered past San Antonio starting goaltender Karl Goehring. Shawn Belle also earned an assist on the goal.
Maxwell added his second goal of the game while on the power play at 5:09 of the middle frame. Mike Glumac fired a shot on net which was saved by Goehring. The puck popped out from under Goehring's glove and onto the stick of Maxwell, who banged the puck into the back of the net. The Bulldogs took a 3-0 lead at 8:43. Yannick Weber sprung Ryan Russell on a breakaway. Russell used a forehand-to-backhand move before beating Goehring.
San Antonio got on the scoreboard at 11:38 of the second stanza with a power-play marker. Joel Perrault sent a pass to David Spina, who slid the puck to Brett MacLean. MacLean jammed the puck past Hamilton starting goaltender Marc Denis for the goal.
Maxwell scored his hat-trick goal at 14:00 of the middle frame to give the Bulldogs a 4-1 lead. Yanick Lehoux and Maxwell raced down the ice on a two-on-one. Lehoux fed a pass onto the stick of Maxwell, who one-timed the shot past Goehring. The hat-trick was Hamilton's first since November 16th, 2008 when Russell scored three markers.
The âDogs increased their lead to 5-1 at 9:47 of the final frame. Dan Jancevski received the puck from Brock Trotter before sliding as pass to Pacioretty, who tapped the puck behind Goehring. Jancevski earned his second assist of the game and 85th point as a Bulldog. He now is the all-time leader in points by a Bulldogs defenceman with 14 goals and 71 assists. Hamilton took a 6-1 lead at 11:37. Russell skated down the left side before firing a shot on net. J.T. Wyman tipped the puck past Goehring for the goal.
The Bulldogs travel to Manitoba to battle the Moose for a game at 8:30 p.m. EST on Friday, March 27th.
