Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated 4-3 in a shootout by the Rochester Americans on Monday afternoon in front of 5,795 fans at Copps Coliseum. Gabriel Dumont had a goal and an assist for the `Dogs while Michal Repik tallied two goals for Rochester.

Following a scoreless first period, the Americans got on the scoreboard first with a goal at 12:37 of the second stanza. Mike Kostka received the puck from Chris Taylor while positioned at the right point. Kostka blasted a shot on net that was tipped by Michal Repik. The puck went over left shoulder of Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford and into the top of the net.

The Bulldogs tied the game 1-1 at 14:43 of the middle frame. Gabriel Dumont received the puck from Alexander Avtsin and skated behind the Amerks net before cutting to the front of the net and jamming the puck underneath Rochester starting goaltender Tyler Plante.

While on the power play, the Amerks scored to take a 2-1 lead at 17:50 of the middle period. Sanford stopped the initial Bill Thomas shot but could not contain the rebound. Michal Repik grabbed the loose puck before spinning around and sliding the puck past Sanford and across the goal line.

Hamilton tied the game at 3:25 of the final frame. Jimmy Bonneau collected the puck at the right side boards before firing a shot towards the net. The puck bounced off the skate of a Rochester player and past Plante. The 'Dogs took a 3-2 lead with a five-on-three power-play goal at 10:14. Ben Maxwell sent the puck to Frederic St. Denis, who was at the point. St. Denis blasted a shot that sailed through traffic and beat Plante over the left shoulder.

Rochester tied the game 3-3 at 13:33 of the third period while on the power play. Joe Callahan skated to the net before receiving a pass from Taylor. Callahan snapped a one-time shot past Sanford and into the net.

Both teams were unable to score in the extra frame, thus forcing a shootout. The Bulldogs were unable to beat Plante as he denied all four shooters he faced while Thomas and Mark Cullen scored for the Amerks to win the game.
