Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated 5-2 by the Rochester Americans in front of 2,715 fans at Copps Coliseum on Tuesday night. David Desharnais had two assists extending his point streak to seven games but it was not enough for the Bulldogs.
Rochester opened the game's scoring at 1:43 of the second stanza. Mike York fed a pass to Michael Duco, who was positioned in the slot. Duco ripped a shot over the glove of Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford and into the top of the net.
The Amerks scored at 3:10 of the third frame to take a 2-0 lead. Sanford saved an Evgeny Dadonov shot before Graham Mink grabbed the loose rebound and shoved the puck underneath Sanford and into the net. Andrew Sweetland scored the Americans third goal of the game at 3:57. Michael Repik blasted a shot from the blue line that was saved by Sanford. The rebound bounced right onto the stick of Sweetland, who fired a shot into the net.
The 'Dogs got on the scoreboard at 4:11 of the third period. P.K. Subban collected the puck at the blue line before hammering a shot towards the net. Desharnais deflected Subban's shot before Mike Glumac grabbed the loose puck and beat Rochester starting goaltender Alexander Salak with a shot.
The Americans added their fourth goal of the game at 6:45 of the final period. While skating into Hamilton's zone, Jordan Henry snapped a shot that was saved by Sanford. The goaltender could not contain the rebound, allowing David Brine to smack the loose puck past Sanford's blocker to make the game 4-1.
Hamilton cut the lead to 4-2 at 18:19 of the third stanza while on a power play. Glumac passed the puck to Subban, who snapped a shot from the point. The puck sailed through traffic in front of the net before beating Salak on the glove side.
Rochester sealed the win with an empty net goal at 19:19 of the third period when Jeff Taffe deposited the puck into the empty net.
