Bulldogs Blanked by Phantoms

HAMILTON, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs fell 6-0 to the Philadelphia Phantoms on Friday night at Copps Coliseum. The loss drops the 'Dogs record to 7-9-0-3 on the season.
Philadelphia opened the scoring at 7:33 of the first period when Jonathan Matsumoto notched his team-leading ninth goal of the season. Kyle Greentree and Darren Reid earned assists on the goal.
With two goals just 40 seconds apart in the middle stanza, the Phantoms increased their lead to 3-0. Philadelphia took a two-goal lead courtesy David Laliberte's first-career AHL tally at the 16:47 mark. Then at 17:27 of the frame, Josh Beaulieu also posted his first-career AHL goal to make the score 3-0. Forwards Jared Ross and Boyd Kane combined to set-up both second period goals.
Philadelphia added three power-play goals in the third period within a span of 3:35 to take a 6-0 lead. First, at the 13:52 mark, Alexandre Picard potted his fifth goal of the season. Then at 14:53 of the final stanza, Greentree scored his seventh goal of the campaign, followed by Ross who added his eighth goal of the year and fourth point of the night at 17:27.
The Bulldogs were 0-for-7 on the power play while the Phantoms went 3-for-7 with the man advantage.
Hamilton's goaltender Yann Danis turned aside 25 of 31 shots in a losing effort, while Philadelphia's netminder Brian Boucher stopped all 28 shots to earn the shutout victory.
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday, December 7th, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. when they host the Binghamton Senators at Copps Coliseum.
