
Bulldogs Begin Pre-Season with 3-1 Loss to the Marlies

Cobourg, Ontario - The Toronto Marlies defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-1 at Cobourg Community Centre on Saturday night. Greg Scott scored the game-winning goal on the power play and Mike Kostka and Jake Gardiner both added two assists.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 4:19 of the opening stanza on a goal by Stephen MacAulay. After Kevin Gagne put the puck on net, MacAulay shovelled in the rebound from the top of the crease with a backhander past Toronto Marlies starting goaltender Ben Scrivens.
The Marlies tied the score at 2:34 of the second frame on a goal by Brad Ross. The puck was slapped on net from the left point and Ross tipped the puck past Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Robert Mayer.
The Marlies took the lead on the power play on a goal by Greg Scott at 17:55 of the third period. Jake Gardiner passed the puck from the right point to the right circle where Nazem Kadri was stationed. Kadri then slid a pass to Scott in the slot who buried the puck under Mayer. Greg McKegg added an empty net goal at 19:12 of the final frame.
The Bulldogs will close their two-game pre-season schedule against the Marlies on Monday, October 8th at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre in Brantford, Ontario at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Funny 820 and hamiltonbulldogs.com. Derek Wills and Al Craig will have the Pioneer pre-game show at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs' 17th season-opener is scheduled for Saturday, October 13th at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan where they will play the Griffins. The team's home-opener is set for Friday, October 19th when they will host the Marlies at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton.
