Bugs Bounce RiverKings in Season Opener 10-1

BOSSIER CITY, LA --- Bossier-Shreveport opened the 2010-11 Central Hockey League season with a 10-1 victory over the RiverKings on Friday, October 15th in Bossier-Shreveport.

Bossier-Shreveport opened the scoring with two power play goals and a shorthanded goal in the first period. Brett Smith and Justin Aikins scored the power play goals, followed by Aikins netting a shorthanded goal to make the first intermission score 3-0 after one period of play.

In the second period, Bossier-Shreveport continue the offensive attack, getting another shorthanded goal from Brett Smith this time, followed by a full-strength goal from Travis Clayton to take a 5-0 lead before Chris Richards scored the RiverKings' only goal of the night and the team's first of the season. The power play goal was assisted by Russell Smith and Ryan Kretzer at 16:42 to cut the deficit to 5-1.

But, Bossier-Shreveport scored five more times for the final score. Kyrzakos scored two more times, Joe Blaznek, Jamie Milam, and Brett Smith finished the night with his third goal for the final score.

Mississippi was 1-for-6 on the power play, while Bossier-Shreveport was 5-for-11. Bossier-Shreveport out shot the RiverKings 26-25. Kyle McNulty was the losing goaltender with 16 saves, while Jeff Harvey stopped 24 shots on net.
