October 15, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release
The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced they have teamed with Mediacom to reintroduce "Between the Pipes," the Mallards' weekly television show, on Mediacom's MC22 channel for the 2010-11 season.
In the wake of the Mallards' season opener tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. against the Odessa Jackalopes at the i wireless Center, the season premier of "Between the Pipes" will air next Wednesday afternoon, October 20 at 2:30 p.m.
In fact, the first airing of each new weekly edition will come on Wednesdays at 2:30 p.m. throughout the season.
The program will feature a condensed version of the Mallards' Game of the Week interspersed with interviews with Mallards Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Frank Anzalone and Mallards players, updates on the Mallards' activities in the community and more.
Mallards Director of Communications and Broadcasting Brian Lavelle will host the program and provide play-by-play.
"Mediacom is excited to renew their partnership with the Quad City Mallards, including the return of 'Between the Pipes' on Mediacom's MC22 channel," said Mediacom Quad Cities Production Manager Fred Klauke.
"We're always eager to enhance our local, exclusive offerings and the Mallards' focus on the community is the perfect fit for MC22."
The initial Wednesday airings of "Between the Pipes" will be followed by a series rebroadcasts.
The first show of the season will first be re-aired next Thursday night at 10 p.m.
Full weekly listings of "Between the Pipes" broadcast times can be found throughout the season on MC22's website, www.mc22.net.
"The chance to team with Mediacom to bring back 'Between the Pipes' is a great opportunity for us," said Lavelle.
"Because Mediacom's MC22 channel is such a strong provider of community-based programming and our ties to the community are so important to us, this is a superb fit for both the Mallards and Mediacom.
We look forward to bringing the fans of the Quad Cities plenty exciting hockey action and behind-the-scenes views throughout the season."
With the kickoff of that season just a day away the Mallards are also gearing up to continue their partnership with Your Easy Choice, 93.9 WYEC-FM, which is again this year the radio home of all Mallards regular season and playoff action.
Fans can listen to Mallards Hockey Presented by Genesis Power Sports Performance tomorrow night and throughout the Mallards' first CHL campaign not only on WYEC but also online at myqcmallards.com.
Each game night, coverage will start with the Mallards Pregame Show Presented by Genesis Sports Medicine 30 minutes before the opening faceoff.
Tomorrow evening the pregame show will begin at 6:35 p.m.
Opening night, presented by Edwards Creative, 97X and News 8, will feature not only the Mallards in action on the ice, but also a pregame Fan Fest outside the i wireless Center beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Fans attending pregame festivities will be treated to a concert by Tom Petty tribute band Free Fallin as well as a beer garden, food, games, kids' activities and autographed prize giveaways.
In addition, all fans attending the opener will receive a free Mallards schedule poster courtesy of Edwards Creative, 97X and News 8.
Admission to Fan Fest is free with the purchase of a ticket to the opener.
