BUFFALO, NY - Despite recording 13 hits on the afternoon, the Iowa Cubs (12-6) fell in the series finale against the Buffalo Bisons (8-12) by a score of 11-6.

Iowa opened scoring in the top of the first, plating one on a Matt Mervis single. They extended that lead to 3-0 the following inning as Jake Slaughter and Christopher Morel scored on another Mervis single.

Rowan Wick made his first start of the season for Iowa. He allowed doubles from Ernie Clement and Davis Schneider in the second that tied the game at three. He allowed a two-run home run from Spencer Horwitz in the next frame. The game was handed over to the bullpen from there.

Two walks and a hit by pitch loaded the bases for Buffalo in the fifth. The Bisons were walked twice more with the bases jammed extending their lead to 7-3. Each team put up one additional run before the seventh inning stretch.

It was Déjà vu as Buffalo had the bases loaded again with a walk, single and hit by pitch. They walked in two more runs and scored one more on a single. The Bisons entered the ninth up by seven.

The I-Cubs attempted to put together a rally in their final at-bats loading the bases themselves with hits from Mervis, Nelson Velazquez and David Bote. Darius Hill and Brennen Davis each recorded an RBI, cutting their deficit to 11-6. The rally stopped there with a game-ending double-play.

POSTGAME NOTES:

Matt Mervis, David Bote and Brennen Davis each put together three-hit performances as the team totaled 13.

The I-Cubs went 6-for-15 with runners in scoring position and had 12 runners left on base.

Iowa's pitchers combined for ten walks, tying a season high in that category.

With the loss, Iowa closes the series 4-2 against Buffalo, their third series win on the year. The I-Cubs will return home to Principal Park for a six-game set against the Louisville Bats.
