June 16, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release
Spokane, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs will begin the 2021-2022 regular season at home against the Tri-City Americans on Bud Light Opening Night, Saturday, October 2 at Spokane Arena.
With the anticipated lifting of health restrictions in Washington the 2021-22 season will call for a 68-game schedule while hosting fans in a safe environment in the Spokane Arena. The 2021-22 WHL Regular Season will conclude Sunday, April 3.
"We've missed our fans," Chiefs President Mark Miles said. "It has been a long time since we've heard the goal song with a full house and we're looking forward to the best fans in the WHL back in the building."
Bud Light Opening Night will mark the first time the Chiefs can host fans in the Arena since March 10th, 2020 when they defeated the Kamloops Blazers 3-1, Spokane's 10th win in a row at the time. The night was highlighted by a goal from Lukas Parik, the first ever by a goaltender in Spokane history. The Chiefs finished the shortened 2019-20 season 41-18-4-1.
Ticket packages for the Spokane Chiefs' 2021-22 regular season are on sale now and start as low as $80! Individual game tickets will go on sale in early September. Call (509) 535-PUCK or visit www.spokanechiefs.com for more information.
The Chiefs and Americans were fairly evenly matched last season, facing each other five times with Spokane going 2-1-2-0 in those games. Winger Reed Jacobson led all Chief scorers with 5 points (2G-3A), appearing in all five games. Spokane has posted a 15-4-0-1 record over their last 20 home openers.
The full 2021-22 regular season schedule is tentatively scheduled for release later this month.
