Blades Announce 2021-22 Regular Season Home Opener
June 16, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
SASKATOON, SK - A battle between two East Division foes will highlight the long-awaited return of WHL hockey to the City of Bridges this fall.
The Saskatoon Blades will crack into the 2021-22 regular season on October 2nd, hosting the Moose Jaw Warriors at the SaskTel Centre for their Home Opener at 7:00 p.m.
With the anticipated lifting of health restrictions across Saskatchewan along with neighbouring provinces, the Blades organization is planning for an exhilarating, safety-driven fan experience at the SaskTel Centre, with zero capacity restrictions in place.
Last season, the Blades caught the attention of the entire province, propelling the team to one of its best starts in franchise history and finishing 3rd in the East Division with a 16-5-2-1 record. The scoring charge was led by Kyle Crnkovic's 32-point performance, which helped him earn the East Division player award for Most Sportsmanlike.
Other notable players expected to return this season include NHL Draft eligible forward Colton Dach, who led the team with 11 goals last year, along with veteran netminder Nolan Maier, who currently holds the record for most wins in franchise history. San Jose Sharks prospect Tristen Robins is also eligible to return to Blade City for his final year in the WHL.
Stay tuned for more details on our entire 2021-22 regular season and pre-season schedules, which will be announced soon! You can also stay up to date on the latest news by following us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram!
Due to maintenance at SaskTel Centre, the Blades office is currently closed. We are happy to assist you by phone, email, or text, and will have an update in regards to our office reopening very soon!
