Bucks Lose to Mallards

LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, fell to the Quad City Mallards 4-1.

The Laredo Bucks faced the Quad City Mallards for the first time in franchise history on Friday night at the Laredo Energy Arena. The first period was spent in transition, with both teams moving up and down the ice. The Bucks outshot the Mallard by the narrow margin of 9-8 in the scoreless period.

The Quad City Mallards found the net only 28 seconds into the second period, when Eric Giosa scored and unassisted powerplay goal. Torrie Jung quickly bounced back and was able to hold off the Mallards from anymore scoring opportunities. The Mallards outshot the Bucks 16-6 in the second period.

The Mallards took advantage of two powerplay opportunities in the third period. Brandon Marino and Jake Riddle each scored a goal for Quad City. The Bucks finally got on the board when Mark Nebus hit a rebound into the empty net from Kyle Mariani and Justin Styffe at 11:47. The Laredo Bucks tried to stage a comeback when they pulled Torrie Jung with almost 3 minutes to play, but were unable to convert. Eric Giosa hit an empty net goal for the Mallards at 19:51 to give them a 4-1 lead.

DOCTORS HOSPITAL TOY DRIVE:

The Laredo Bucks are encouraging everyone attending the Saturday, December 3rd game to bring a new unwrapped toy to the game. All toys donated will be distributed to the pediatric patients at Doctors Hospital.
