Laredo Bucks News Release

LAREDO, TX - The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 2-1 Saturday night, in front of 4,653 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Laredo falls to 1-1 on the season, while Bossier improves to 2-0 with the win.

Mudbugs rookie goaltender Ryan Mior came up big in his first professional start, as he set aside 27 of 28 Bucks shots.

Laredo's downfall Saturday night would be their penalty kill, as they have up two power-play goals midway through the second period.

For the second straight game the Bucks jumped out in front of their opponent with an early goal in the first period.

Matt Summers set up the play behind the Mudbugs net, and found Adam Rivet who was standing at the bottom of the left circle. Rivet snuck a shot past the nearside pad of Bossier rookie goaltender Ryan Mior. Summers and Jason Dixon picked up assist on Rivet's first goal of the year.

The Mudbugs outshot the Bucks in the opening 20 minutes, 12-7, with Laredo goaltender Sebastien Centomo making a couple of tricky saves.

The Bucks would run into trouble halfway through the second period, as they ran into penalty trouble, and eventually lose the lead.

Bossier would tie the game on their first of back-to-back five-on-three power-plays, when Veteran Travis Clayton re-directed a pass from the point past Centomo. The tally was Clayton's first goal of the campaign.

Right after Clayton's tying goal Centomo was called for unsportsmanlike conduct, giving the Mudbugs another two-man advantage.

The Mudbugs would take the lead a little over a minute later on the power-play, when Chris Brassard took a laser pass from Todd Paul, and sent a shot over Centomo's should to make it 2-1 Bossier. Brassard had good position right in front of the crease, and received Paul's pass in front of Centomo.

Bossier outshot the Bucks for the second straight period, this time 13-8.

Trailing 2-1 late in the third period the Bucks fell victim to another penalty, this time with just a little over one minute left as they were trying to tie the game.

The Bucks, however, could not get the equalizer, as they outshot the ‘Bugs in the third 13-8.

Centomo (1-1) set aside 31 of 33 Mudbugs shots he faced.

The Bucks will play their first three-in-three next weekend, when they travel to Rio Grande Valley (Oct 24) and Corpus Christi (Oct 25), before hosting Rapid City for the first time ever on Sunday (Oct 26). Tickets start at just $10. Come check out the new "One Buck Dollar Menu" and the LEC, with five items that cost just $1.
