Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ (December 20, 2007) - The ECHL announced today that Ryan Gunderson has been selected to the ECHL All-Star Game taking place in Stockton, CA on January 23, 2008. The Devils defenseman will be Trenton's representative to the American Conference squad.
Gunderson, 22, is playing his first professional season this year and leads the Devils in scoring with 19 points (2g, 17a) to his credit. He quickly climbed up the statistical ladder over the past two weeks, scoring nine points (1g, 8a) in his last six games. He also has two two-point games and one three-point game (1g, 2a) across that stretch.
The Bensalem, PA native is also tied for third in the league in defensemen scoring. The defenseman also leads the ECHL in a variety of categories, including most assists by a defenseman and most points by a rookie defenseman.
Gunderson also leads the team in game winning goals with two.
The 5-11, 178-pounder came to the Devils after playing collegiately with the University of Vermont, where he set a school record in games played (148) and was amongst the team leaders in assists each of his four years.
The local product skated with Holy Ghost Prep and owns the team's records in single season and career points. He also spent a year with the Mercer Chiefs of the AYHL.
Hosted by the Stockton Thunder and the City of Stockton at Stockton Arena, the 2008 Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game presented by Jackson Rancheria and Bud Light will be played on Jan. 23 with the 11th edition of the Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game Skills Competition being held on Jan. 22.
The starting lineups are determined in voting by American Conference coaches, team captains, media directors, broadcasters and media members. Coaches also submitted the top prospects from within their conference to determine the final roster with each of the 16 teams having a representative.
There are 13 rookies on the American Conference and only two of the 21 players have played in an ECHL All-Star Game.
The Trenton Devils continue their homestand at Sovereign Bank Arena when they take on the Dayton Bombers on Friday, December 21 at 7:30pm. Full and partial season ticket plans for 2007-08 are available by calling (609) 599-9500.
