BUCCANEER REWIND...

Peter Schneider and Blake Coleman each scored twice as the Indiana Ice defeated the Des Moines Buccaneers 7-3 before 3,447 fans at Buccaneer Arena on Saturday night. Dajon Mingo scored two goals for the Bucs in the losing effort. Indiana led 2-0 after the first period on a power play goal by David Johnstone and Schneider's first tally of the evening. Des Moines would answer back on a short-handed goal by Mingo seven minutes into the second period. The Mingo goal ended a 185 minute scoring drought for the Bucs that went back to their February 12th game.

The joy was short-lived as the Ice would grab the two-goal lead back ten minutes into the second period. Bucs' goaltender Tyler Bruggeman robbed Brian Ferlin with a fantastic sprawling save in the crease, but Blake Coleman gathered the rebound and lifted the puck over the fallen goalie and into the goal. Schneider's second goal of the night -a power play goal early in the third period - gave Indiana a 4-1 lead. However, the Bucs would mount a rally as goals from Ray Pigozzi and Mingo brought the Bucs to within one with just 7:01 left in regulation.

The Bucs momentum wouldn't last long as Indiana would tack on three goals to make the final score 7-3.

The Buccaneers had three more shots hit the iron and fell 2-1 at home to the Waterloo Black Hawks on Tuesday night at Buccaneer Arena. Des Moines has been cursed to the tune of 14 shots hitting the post in the last four games, each of them losses.

This loss in particular spoiled a fantastic outing in goal by Michael Shibrowski who made 35 saves in the defeat. Shibrowski was especially strong in the second period, making a number of spectacular saves to keep his team in the game. Waterloo jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the opening three minutes with a power play goal by Max Edson. Later in the first period, the Bucs appeared on the verge of tying the game but Waterloo netminder C.J. Motte robbed Anthony Greco on a close range shot, and another attempt from Gasper Kopitar hit the post.

The Black Hawks extended the lead with a five-on-three power play strike from Jamie Hill early in the second period. Des Moines would cut the lead in half when Austin Coldwell delivered a power play goal of his own midway through the second. It remained 2-1 Waterloo through the remainder of the second period. In the third period, Des Moines' best chance to equal the score came nine minutes in when Doug Clifford's drive from the left circle clipped the crossbar and Connor Kucera's shot from the left point seconds later, hit the left post flush. Ethan Prow would get an open look from the right circle with 10-seconds remaining only to be denied on a glove save by Motte.

Even with the loss, the Buccaneers finish the season series with Waterloo with a 5-2 edge.
