Omaha Lancers News Release
The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) continue a busy three-game road week with a showdown at the Waterloo Black Hawks on Friday followed by the team's final regular season get-together with the Green Bay Gamblers on Saturday. Omaha (25-13-5, 55 Pts.) is coming off a 4-3 road setback last evening at the hands of the Tri-City Storm. The loss was just the Lancers fourth defeat in the last 13 games and was Omaha's first setback in six games this season head-to-head against Tri-City. First-year forward Adam Chlapik notched a goal and an assist in the losing effort while defenseman Nathan Widman registered his first career USHL goal.
Omaha's busy week continues Friday with the team's first meeting of the year with the Waterloo Black Hawks. Waterloo (15-19-7, 37 Pts.) is coming off a 2-1 road victory over the Des Moines Buccaneers last evening, which marked the team's fourth win in its last seven games. The victory also propelled the Black Hawks over the Youngstown Phantoms for the sixth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Friday's clash with Omaha is Waterloo's final home game before the club sets out on a six-game road trip, which doesn't find the Black Hawks back at the Young Arena until March 11th. The Hawks are 9-10-2 in 21 home games this season.
The Lancers three-game road week then concludes Saturday with Omaha's first and only trip to the Resch Center in Green Bay for the team's final regular season clash with the Gamblers. Green Bay (32-10-2, 64 Pts.) continues to lead not only all Eastern Conference teams in standings points but all 16 USHL teams as well. The Gamblers enter the week having won seven of their last eight games overall, including a 3-0 shutout of the Lancers last Friday at the Civic Auditorium. Green Bay will be in action Thursday at home against the Indiana Ice before welcoming Omaha on Saturday and concluding a 3-game home week with the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Sunday.
