
Bruins sign Darren VanOene

The Providence Bruins announced today that they have signed veteran left wing Darren VanOene to a professional tryout agreement. VanOene, who played with the Bruins from 2002-04, had 2-8-10 totals and 11 PIM in 13 games with the Elmira Jackals (UHL). VanOene will be in the lineup for tonight's game at Lowell, which gets underway at 7:00 p.m. All the action will be broadcast live on WDDZ AM-550 and online at www.providencebruins.com.
VanOene is playing in his seventh professional season. The 26-year-old native of Edmonton, Alberta was originally selected by the Buffalo Sabres with their third pick (second round), 33rd overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. He played with the Sabres' AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans, from 1998-2002, helping the team reach the 1999 and 2000 Calder Cup Finals. VanOene signed with the Boston Bruins during the summer of 2002, and spent the next two seasons playing in Providence. In 419 career AHL games, he has 69-89-158 totals and 736 PIM.
The Bruins will also play on the road on Sunday, as they head to Hartford to take on the Wolf Pack on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m.
The Bruins return home to host the Manchester Monarchs on Friday, December 3 at 7:05 p.m. The game will be the second of six to be televised live on COX Sports Television. The Bruins also host the Hershey Bears on Sunday, December 5 at 4:05 p.m.
