Lupul's two goals lead Ducks past Barons
November 27, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Cincinnati RailRaiders News Release
CINCINNATI, OH -- Joffrey Lupul scored two goals and Joel Perrault had a goal and an assist to lead the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks past the Cleveland Barons, 4-2, Saturday at Cincinnati Gardens.
Pierre Parenteau also scored and Zenon Konopka had two assists for the Ducks, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Lupul's goals, his third and fourth of the season, snapped an 11-game goal drought for the first-round pick by Anaheim in 2002.
Mike Ayers, recalled earlier in the day from ECHL Dayton, stopped 29 of the 31 shots he faced in his AHL debut for Cincinnati, including all 20 he faced over the final two periods.
"It was a tough chore to step in and play his first AHL game," Ducks head coach Brad Shaw said. "He stopped a breakaway (by Marcel Goc) when we were trailing 2-1 in the second period and then made seven or eight other big saves and gave us a chance to pick up points (in the standings)."
Aaron Gill and Patrick Rissmiller scored for the Barons, who fell to 1-3-0-1 in their last five games.
Dimitri Patzold had 24 saves in the losing effort.
The Ducks begin a five-game road trip Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at Grand Rapids.
