
Goaltender Mike Ayers signed to pro tryout contract

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Cincinnati Mighty Ducks signed goaltender Mike Ayers to a pro tryout contract on Saturday.
Ayers, 24, has appeared in six games with ECHL Dayton this season, going 2-3-0 with a 3.69 goals-against average and .912 save percentage.
A native of Hingham, Mass, Ayers spent the previous four seasons at the University of New Hampshire, where he set single-season school records in 2002-03 for most wins (27), saves (1,139), shutouts (seven), games played (41) and minutes (2,499).
The 5-foot-11, 188-pound Ayers was originally selected by Chicago in the sixth round (177th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
