Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence following six consecutive road games on Friday, January 14 at 7:05 p.m., when they host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The Black and Gold will make history on Friday night, as they become just the 14th team in the 69-year history of the American Hockey League to play 1,000 games. The Bruins are 455-442-102 all-time, and are 273-184-41 all-time on home ice. Head coach Scott Gordon's club is in fourth place in the Atlantic Division with its 19-12-2-6 record (46 points), one point behind the Worcester IceCats.
The first 4,000 fans in attendance on Friday night will receive a free Providence Bruins hat, courtesy of the Rhode Island Lottery and WPRI CBS-12. The Bruins also host the Worcester IceCats on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m.
Providence left wing Andy Hilbert is also on the verge of making history, as he needs one goal to surpass the late Sergei Zholtok for the all-time franchise career lead in goals, with 84. Hilbert tallied his third career hat trick at Lowell on Sunday to tie Zholtok, and leads the team in scoring while being tied for seventh in the AHL with 19-23-42 totals in 39 games. Hilbert has 83-90-173 totals in 194 career games as a Bruin, ranking him third in franchise history, behind Andre Savage (175) and Zholtok (186).
