Bruins Get Past Blazers

The Bruins built a 2-0 first period lead and held on for a 5-2 win over the Blazers on Sunday night at ISC.

Brett Ward and Tanner Exner staked the visitors to the 2-0 lead before Shayne Wiebe cut the lead to 2-1 early in the second. The Bruins then got powerplay goals from Kevin Sundher and Andy Smith for a 4-1 only to have CJ Stretch cut the lead back to 4-2 on a powerplay late in the second. The Blazers then outshot the Bruins 15-3 in the third period - but went 0-for-5 on the PP in the final frame - and came up short in their comeback attempt.

Final shots were 44-30 Blazers with Mark Friesen getting the win and Jon Groenheyde taking the loss. The Blazers ended the night 2-for-9 on the PP while the Bruins went 3-for-8.
