Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Blades won in dramatic fashion as they came back after being down 4-0 early in the first period.
The Broncos came out firing as they scored 4 goals in less than 4 minutes, the third resulting in the Blades pulling Braden Holtby in favour of Adam Morrison. Gaelan Patterson (SH) and Mike Reich would both score to finish off a wild first period.
Colin Joe would score his first goal of the season only 43 seconds into the second period. Taylor Vause would restore the Broncos two goal lead, but Teigan Zahn (SH) replied a little over a minute later with his first goal of the season as well.
The Blades Power play would finally click in the third period as Stefan Elliott and Burke Gallimore would both capitalize on the man advantage. The Broncos would come close to tying the game up late, as a shot would beat Morrison but not the post. The Blades PP went 2/7 and the penalty killing unit scored two goals while killing off 3 of 4 penalties.
The Blades put up 58 shots on Mark Guggenberger, a season high in that category.
The Blades now have the leading goal scorer among defensemen in Elliott (11), 2nd leading rookie goal scorer in Gallimore (12), the leading goaltender in wins Holtby (14), a 5 game home winning streak and a league best 8 game road winning streak (current). The win puts the Blades 5 points up on Regina, with two games in hand for first in the East Division.
