
Brown's Walk-Off Single Lifts the Grasshoppers Over the IronBirds, 5-4 in Extra Innings

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Greensboro Grasshoppers defeated the Aberdeen IronBirds, 5-4 with Luke Brown's walk-off hit in the bottom of the tenth. The Grasshoppers improved to 3-10 on the season while the IronBirds fell to 8-5. Aberdeen outhit Greensboro 10-8 as both teams had one mishap.
Leading at the dish for the Grasshoppers was the designated hitter Tres Gonzalez as he went 3-5 with a home run, one RBI, and one run scored. Along with his walk-off single in the tenth, Brown recorded a home run, three RBI, and one run scored. Travis Swaggerty tallied a triple while Eil Wilson also roped in a double.
Starting on the mound for Greensboro was right-handed pitcher Thomas Harrington as he recorded five strikeouts and gave up five hits, one run, and two free bases on six innings of work. Dante Mendoza recorded the win for the Grasshoppers and moved to 4-2 on the season.
Carson Carter took the loss for the IronBirds and fell to 2-3 on the season.
The Grasshoppers continue their home series against the IronBirds tomorrow, Saturday, July 8, at 6:30 PM.
