Asheville Tourists News Release
BOWLING GREEN- The Asheville Tourists lost by double-digits for the third time in four days to the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Asheville fell 12-0 in a game where the Tourists were held to two hits and committed a season-high six errors. The pitching surrendered an eight-run inning, allowed four Home Runs, and walked nine.
Bowling Green took a no-hitter into the top of the eighth inning. Tommy Sacco Jr. led off the eighth with a single into center but was quickly erased on a double play. Jacob Melton's two-out double in the ninth was Asheville's only other hit.
A.J. Blubaugh worked the first four innings and limited the high-powered Hot Rods offense to two runs. In the fifth, Bowling Green exploded for eight runs off the Asheville bullpen. The home team hit three Home Runs in the frame including a Grand Slam.
Franny Cobos was once again called into action to help carry the Tourists through the game. Cobos pitched three innings and allowed only one run on just two days rest. Bowling Green took advantage when Cobos was removed from the game with two more runs in the bottom of the eighth.
The Tourists have allowed 44 runs in their four games at Bowling Green this week. The offense has been shut out twice and held to one run once. Asheville can still earn a series-split against the best home team in the South Atlantic League by winning the next two games.
