Reno Silver Sox News Release

The Silver Sox (15-23) pulled in a 8-7 victory last night over the Yuma Scorpions (23-17) in an eleven inning nail biter that ended with a Ryan Brown single that brought in Juan Senreiso.

The Silver Sox offense kept the Scorpions down for most of the game. CF Gary Harris started it off with a solo shot in the first. Harris was four for six on the night with one RBI and two runs.

Adding to the board in the second was SS Doug Sanders who knocked in 2B Carlos Madrid with a single to right field to make the score 2-0 in after two. Sanders would go one for five on the night with one RBI.

In the fifth inning it was DH Juan Senreiso who added two more runs to the board. Senreiso slammed the ball into right center for what looked to be a double, scoring Harris and LF Ryan Crespi. Senreiso couldn?t make it to second and was called out, but his work was done as the Sox had a 4-0 lead after five. Senreiso went two for five with two RBIs and two runs.

The Yuma offense picked it up against the Silver Sox pitching as they scored five runs in the seventh, and two more in the ninth to give the Scorpions a 7-4 lead at the bottom of the ninth. RF Ross McCoy started things off with an RBI single that brought the score 7-5. McCoy went one for five with one RBI and one run.

C D.J. Dixon came to the rescue again as he hit a two run single to tie the game at seven and take the game into extra innings. Dixon was three for five with two RBIs and no runs. Both teams pitched great in the tenth, but the Silver Sox determination was just too much. In the eleventh with two outs Yuma pitcher Neil Hayes walked Senreiso and Dixon. 1B Ryan Brown hit the game winning single that brought in Senreiso. Brown was two for six with one RBI and one run.

Though the hitting was great, the pitching shined last night as well. Starting pitcher Chris Fields pitched six innings, allowing three runs off three hits, all which came in the seventh, striking out one and walking two. In to relieve Fields was Derrick Landavaso who gave up two runs off one hit, struck out one, and walked none in two innings.

Eduardo Del La Cruz came in the ninth inning to close things down but gave up two runs on two hits, striking out one, and walking one in his one inning. It was Scott Schneider (1-0) though who held the Scorpions at bay before the Reno offense was able to capture the win. Schneider allowed only one hit and struck out two to earn his first win of the season.
