Flyers Struggle - Yuma Helps Out

Orange County Flyers News Release

The Chico Outlaws first win of the season over the Orange County Flyers came in resounding fashion Tuesday night at Nettleton Stadium. A 10-run 7th inning gave Chico the lead for good as they routed the Flyers 19-6.

Orange County's magic number to clinch the South Division is down to three because the Yuma Scorpions lost in Reno.

Every hitter in the Chico (14-26) lineup contributed at least two hits to the cause as most of the damage was done to the Flyers bullpen. Greg Bicknell tossed 137 pitches to earn the win on three days rest for the Outlaws.

The Flyers led early behind homeruns from Jermy Acey and Patrick Breen, but Chico kept battling back and finally surpassed the Flyers in a marathon 7th inning.

The rubber match of this three game series will be decided Wednesday night with Andre Simpson pitching for Orange County (25-13).
