Chico Outlaws News Release

With the unhealthy amount of smoke in the air due to the rash of fires in the North State, the Chico Outlaws announced Wednesday they are cancelling tonight?s scheduled Golden Baseball League game against the Orange County Flyers.

?The poor air quality puts the health of both the players and fans at risk,? Outlaws general manager Curt Jacey said Wednesday. ?We couldn?t in good conscience go ahead with our game as scheduled. It?s hard for us to ask our fans to enjoy an Outlaws game with the area fires threatening lives and homes.?

No make-up date has been set. Fans holding tickets for Wednesday?s game can exchange them for any future home date on the Outlaws 2008 schedule; exchanges can be made at the Outlaws ticket office at 308 Salem Street in downtown Chico. The Feather Falls Casino and Lodge straw hat giveaway slated for Wednesday has been moved to the Outlaws Tuesday, August 5 game against the Reno Silver Sox.

The Outlaws will take their scheduled day off Thursday and, air quality permitting, will resume play Friday when they host the Yuma Scorpions in the opener of a three-game weekend series at Nettleton Stadium.
