Timely hitting hold off the Cracker Cats

Long Beach Armada News Release


The Armada held off the Cracker cats' fifth inning surge and it was another fantastic game between these two ball clubs of the GBL.

Edmonton trailed by three going into the fifth when they would tie it up. It wouldn't last as the Armada took back the lead that same inning and would not let it go, winning their second straight against Edmonton 7-4.

The Armada took the lead back in the fifth when CF Steve Moss crushed a two run homer over the left field wall to give teh Armada the lead, 5-3. Newcomers Brett Flowers and Michael Glomb would drive in the two insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Moss finished the game 1 for 3 with a HR, 2 RBI and two runs scored. Flowers went 4 for 5 with a RBI and a run scored. He's 7 for 10 in this series against Edmonton. Glomb went 2 for 4 with a RBI.

Armada starter Ryan Claypool (4-4) got the win going 6 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits while walking 2 and striking out 6. The save, his second, went to Justin Segal, who went 2 innings striking out 2. Edmonton starter Nicholas Peterson (1-3) got the loss going 5 2/3 innings giving up 5 runs on 8 hits while walking 6 and striking out 5.

1B Jose Morban would tie the game in the fifth with his 3 RBI triple and CF Ruddy Yan would sac fly in a run in the seventh. Morban went 1 for 4 with 3 RBI. Yan went 1 for 3 with a RBI and a run scored. C Jon Pasieka went 2 for 4.

Probable starters for tomorrows game for Edmonton Eric Van Slyke (3-3) and for Long Beach Dusty Gober (3-2). Game time is 7:05pm.
